In Conjunction with the symposium, there will be a special tour of "Antiquity Recovered" on Saturday, October 5, 2002 beginning at 5:15pm. The tour is free and open to the public.

*SYMPOSIUM October 4-5, 2002*
Antiquity Recovered: The Legacy of Pompeii and Herculaneum is an international and interdisciplinary symposium that will be held at the University of Pennsylvania on October 4-5, 2002. The symposium will coincide with the exhibition Antiquity Recovered: Pompeii and Herculaneum in Philadelphia Collections on view at the Arthur Ross Gallery at the University of Pennsylvania from September 21-December 1, 2002. The symposium, which will be open to the public, will expand the premise of the exhibition to explore how the Bay of Naples archaeological excavations influenced responses to the classical tradition from the eighteenth century through the modern era in both Europe and America.
