Porcelain painted with underglaze cobalt blue
When the technique for painting with cobalt blue pigment under
the glaze developed in China in the 14th century, taste for such
wares spread quickly throughout Asia. Cobalt blue was, however,
scarce in Korea. As a result, ceramics decorated in this technique
were not widely produced there until the 18th century.
