The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) is co-sponsoring a Research Community Forum (RCF) with local institutions in Philadelphia, PA on Thursday and Friday, October 23rd and 24th 2014 entitled “Moving Beyond the Basics of Informed Consent.” If you are currently a member of the research community at Penn and are involved in research with human participants, or if you serve in a role as an IRB member or other Committee charged with review of research with human participants, you may be eligible to have the conference fee waived, if your department is unable to provide the fee for attendance. There are five scholarships available, offered by the Penn IRB, which will allow for attendance to the conference with the registration fee being waived. You must meet the requirements noted above and provide a brief description to Tracy Ziolek, Director, Human Research Protections (email@example.com) for consideration. In return for the conference fee being waived, the IRB will ask all five recipients to provide a presentation to the IRB staff related to one of the topics covered at the conference. For more details or to address any questions you may have, please contact Tracy Ziolek or Megan Singleton, Associate Director, Human Research Protections (firstname.lastname@example.org).
