Cross-disciplinary study at the graduate and professional level isn't unusual at universities like the University of Pennsylvania. Why are we different? Well, we encourage cross-disciplinary study at the undergraduate level, too. There are wonderful connections here between academic areas. Students can select a major in one school -- the College at Penn, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Nursing and the Wharton School -- and take elective courses, a minor or sometimes a second degree in another school. Options for individually-designed majors that draw on course work from throughout the University are available. This web site highlights some of the collaboration between schools that makes Penn unique.

The fact is, no other institution in America -- not one -- can offer an undergraduate student more opportunities for cross-disciplinary study in joint and dual degree programs in which you can receive bachelor's degrees in two disciplines, sub-matriculation programs in which you receive both a bachelor's and a graduate or professional, degree or cross-disciplinary programs that combine study in a number of academic areas.
