Highly-qualified and motivated students can apply to the University of Pennsylvania Law School and sub-matriculate into the Juris Doctor Program in their fourth year of study at Penn after completion of the general requirements for the bachelor's degree. The Juris Doctor Program combines the broad overview of their undergraduate studies with the professional focus of preparation in the law, usually in six years.

For students enrolled in the College at Penn, the BA/JD Program will lead to a Bachelor of Arts and the Juris Doctor. For students in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the BAS/JD or BSE/JD Program will lead to a Bachelor of Applied Science and the Juris Doctor or a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and the Juris Doctor. For students in the School of Nursing, the BSN/JD Program will lead to the Bachelor of Nursing and the Juris Doctor. For students in the Wharton School, the BS/JD Program will lead to a Bachelor of Science in Economics and the Juris Doctor.


There are many opportunities for sub-matriculation within the College at Penn, enabling accomplished students to earn either a Master of Arts or a Master of Science degree in most graduate programs offered in the School of Arts and Sciences within a prescribed four years of undergraduate and graduate study. Wharton School students may also enroll in programs that lead to either an MBA or an MS in Accounting in five years and access Wharton Doctoral courses. Opportunities for sub-matriculation are also available for outstanding students enrolled in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the School of Nursing.


The College at Penn and the School of Dental Medicine offer a Seven-Year Accelerated Program in whichaccomplished students spend the first three years in the College at Penn, and the final four years at the School of Dental Medicine. Students must major in Biology and will receive a Bachelor of Arts at the successful completion of their first year of study at the School of Dental Medicine.

The College at Penn and the School of Engineering and Applied Science offer sub-matriculation programs with the Graduate School of Education. The BA/MS.Ed. Program allows students the opportunity to complete requirements for a Bachelor of Arts in the College at Penn and receive a Master of Education in one of a number of specializations with a fifth year of study. Students in the School of Engineering and Applied Science also can earn a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Master of Education in secondary education with a specialization in either mathematics and chemistry or mathematics and physics through the BAS/MS.Ed. Program.
