
Complaint Investigation:
- Conduct impartial investigation of complaints of harassment
and other forms of prohibited discrimination and recommending
corrective or disciplinary action when appropriate.
- Counsel employees and make referrals to other University departments
for issues/concerns outside the scope of the offices jurisdiction.

Compliance/Reporting:
- Monitor the effectiveness of the Universitys affirmative
action programs and non-discrimination policies and procedures
to ensure compliance with relevant federal, state and local laws.
- Coordinate the preparation of the Universitys written
affirmative action plans in compliance with federal regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of other federally mandated compliance
reporting such as the annual Vet-100 report, the biennial IPEDS
(Integrated Post-Secondary Educational Data) report and other
internal data management reports.

Search & Selection:
- Review the search and selection process for all staff to ensure
that searches are conducted in a non-discriminating manner and
that affirmative action is taken to ensure that members of underrepresented
groups are notified of, and encouraged to, apply for positions
at the University.
- Provide Hiring Officers with information on relevant minority
candidate sources and advice on outreach and recruitment strategies.

Services for Faculty and Staff with Disabilities:
- Consult with faculty and staff members with disabilities about
requests for reasonable
accommodations.
- Consult with supervisors and managers who need information on
how to reasonably accommodate employees with disabilities.
- Authorize the use of the Penn Access
Transit (PAT) system for faculty and staff.
- Oversee building and program accessibility in conjunction with
the Office of Student Disability Services.
- Monitor construction and renovation projects to ensure that
programs and activities will be fully accessible to people with
disabilities.
- Participate in the resolution of complaints regarding campus
building and programs accessibility.

Education and Training:
- Provide educational programs on
Penns Affirmative Action an non-discrimination policies,
as well as an specific topics related to affirmative action, non-discrimination,
equal opportunity, diversity, disability, sex discrimination and
other forms of prohibited discrimination.
- Provide educational programs tailored to department specific
issues such as promoting a respectful workplace.
- Provide technical assistance to University personnel on affirmative
action and non-discrimination issues.
