What is the history of Almanac?

Almanac is the weekly publication of record, opinion and news for the University of Pennsylvania faculty and staff. Almanac publishes AT PENN calendar posters and special supplements that extend its readership to students and special audiences such as alumni and neighbors. Founded as a four-page monthly in 1954, Almanac publishes 8-28 pages weekly during the academic year, publishing as-needed during breaks and producing Special Bulletins during emergencies or for special occasions. Almanac is currently digital-only, but is typically published in print and online.

The publication is funded by the University's Office of the President but reports editorially to an Almanac Advisory Board on which the representatives from the Faculty Senate, three staff Assemblies and the Administration monitor open expression and right-of-reply for those criticized in the pages.

Where can I find a hard copy of Almanac on campus?

Currently we are digital-only because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Normally Almanac is distributed in bundles to University buildings, where each department chooses its own system for further distribution. Copies of Almanac can typically be found at Houston Hall, College Hall and the Franklin Building.

INTERNET BROWSER AND OTHER TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

How can I change my browser’s font size?

Use the Help function on your browser's toolbar for assistance.

Note: Graphics with words inside cannot be resized (such as banners, logos and pictures). Increasing the text size will also show less text on each page, so you may need to scroll down to view all of the text. Also, modifying font size will alter the layout and design of the pages you view to facilitate the larger text.
