Move-in Traffic Advisory for This Week
This is a reminder to the Penn community that we will be welcoming
the Class of 2006 and their families to campus on Wednesday and Thursday,
August 28 and 29 of this week. Faculty, staff, and other Penn affiliates
are advised that as a result of move-in activity, there will be additional
traffic congestion on these days throughout the University area. The
impact will be felt primarily in the areas of Hill College House,
King's Court/English House (Walnut to Chestnut between 33rd and 36th
Streets), and the Quadrangle College Houses, where Spruce Street from
34th to 38th Street will be closed on both days from 8 am until 4
p.m. (SEPTA transit routes will operate on Spruce St. both days.)Move-in
will also occur in the Hamilton Village area affecting the area of
38th to 40th, Spruce to Walnut St.
The influx of visitors will also impact usage of surface parking lots
and garages in the overall area. To alleviate this situation we are
recommending car-pooling or utilizing public transportation.
