Invitation to a Lighting

To the University Community:

I would like to invite you to attend a Kick-Off Celebration set for Tuesday, December 3, at 5:30 p.m. at 42nd and Pine Streets to see a "Model Block" for residential lighting in University City.

Penn has worked with PECO to demonstrate residential lighting in University City with state-of-the-art lighting fixtures. PECO has provided lighting for both sides of the street on the 4100 block of Pine--free of charge--to the homeowners.

President Rodin, Mayor Rendell, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, Councilman Jim Kenney; PECO's Chairman of the Board Joe Paquette, and Larry Bell, executive director of the West Philadelphia Partnership, will speak at this event.

This project is a model for all local neighborhoods and homeowners. As a next step, the West Philadelphia Partnership will administer a small pilot program to provide a 50% rebate to other University City homeowners who wish to upgrade their outdoor lighting.

Please join us for this demonstration and bring along your colleagues who would be interested in this initiative to increase safety in our neighborhoods.

-- Carol Scheman, Vice President for Government, Community and Public Affairs
