Dr. Jane P. Davidson, professor of history at the University of Nevada Reno, has written to the Penn Biology Department to offer a $100 reward for information leading to the return of the Department's missing bust of the late Professor Edward Drinker Cope (Almanac December 3, 1996).
Dr. Davidson is the modern biographer of the celebrated 19th Century scientist who was, among other things, one of the founders of American paleontology. When her book, The Bone Sharp: The Life of Edward Drinker Cope, comes out this spring from the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia it will be the first biography of Cope since 1931.
