Gender Equity Committee
At the recommendation of the University Council Steering Committee, Provost Robert Barchi and Faculty Senate Chair Larry Gross have appointed a committee to undertake a systematic review of the status of women faculty at the University, modeled in general form after the recent Study on the Status of Women Faculty in Science at MIT. Unlike that study, however, the Gender Equity Committee will assess the status of women faculty across the University, a far more wide-ranging and complex task, involving a much larger group of faculty, in diverse schools and disciplines. The committee will be chaired by Faculty Senate Past-Chair Phoebe Leboy and Associate Provost Barbara Lowery. The Gender Equity Committee began its work in June, with the goal of reporting by the end of the fall semester. A list of the committee members follows.
