International Travel Safety Advisories

The Department of State is closely monitoring world events and the impact that these events have on international travel. For the convenience of University faculty, staff and students, the Department of State travel advisories will be posted on the University's emergency web page (www.upenn.edu/directories/emergency.php). In addition to travel advisory information, this site will be used to communicate information to the community during any future emergency condition.


Fellowships for Scholars to Conduct
Dissertation Research Abroad

The Social Science Research Council, in collaboration with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is accepting applications for the International Dissertation Field Research Fellowship program. The program provides support for social scientists and humanists to conduct dissertation field research throughout the world.

Who is eligible? Full-time graduate students in the social sciences and humanities who are enrolled in doctoral programs in the United States. Applicants must have completed all doctoral requirements, except the fieldwork component, by the time the fellowship begins or by December 2002, whichever comes first. Deadline for applications: November 5, 2001. Total amount to be awarded and number of awards: unspecified amount for up to 50 awards. Amount of individual awards: up to $16,000.
