ISSUE HIGHLIGHTS: Tuesday, July 15, 2003 Volume 50 Number 1 www.upenn.edu/almanac President Judith Rodin announced her intention to step down next summer. The new Ombudsman is a long-time member of the SEAS faculty. The School of Social Work announces its recipients of the Excellence in Teaching Awards. Thanks to the Alumni Reunion Gifts there will be more scholarships and renovations. The Trustees' passed numerous resolutions at the June meeting. UPM Director Jeremy Sabloff also intends to step down next summer and a search has begun. GSE Vice Dean Christopher Hopey will step down and go to Northwestern University. Speaking Out about the President, and about the University's name. Eight medical faculty and emeritus faculty have died since the end of May. Honors for research and public safety.
