Dr.
Christopher
H. Hopey,
vice
dean
for
Graduate
Admissions & Executive
Education
at the
Graduate
School
of
Education,
will
step
down
from
his
position,
effective
July
18,
to accept
an appointment
at Northeastern
University
as Vice
President
for
Adult
and
Continuing
Education
and
Associate
Professor
in the
School
of Education.
Dr.
Hopey
received
his
undergraduate
degree
in political
science
and
his
M.P.A.
in public
management
from
Northeastern
in 1988
and
1991,
respectively.
He received
the
Ph.D.
in higher
education
management
from
GSE
in 1998.
As
founding
director
of the
Of¸ce
of Continuing
Education & Executive
Education
at GSE,
he worked
with
other
faculty
to develop
a variety
of executive
degree
and
continuing
education
programs,
including
the
Executive
Doctorate
in Higher
Education
Management,
the
Mid-career
Doctorate
in Educational
Leadership,
Part-Time
Teacher
Certi¸cation
Program,
Instructional
Leadership
Program
for
Aspiring
Principals,
the
Corporate
Learning
Program,
and
the
Penn
Center
for
Educational
Leadership.
According
to GSE
Dean
Susan
H. Fuhrman, "I
accepted
Dr.
Hopey's
resignation
with
regret:
his
superb
leadership
in executive
education
and
admissions
have
greatly
contributed
to GSE's
growth
and
vitality
in recent
years,
and
his
business
savvy
and
understanding
of education
have
brought
our
work
to a
broader
range
of student
markets
and
professional
colleagues."
