Dedication of Penn Hillel's New Home: Steinhardt Hall

Steinhardts
Judy and Michael Steinhardt
Hundreds gathered for the dedication ceremony last Thursday at the new $12 million, 35,000-square-foot Steinhardt Hall, named for Michael and Judy Steinhardt (left). Jason Auerbach, C '04, Hillel's student president, thanked the Steinhardts for their "vision, passion and generosity." President Judith Rodin noted that Penn has "an incredibly vibrant Jewish community" which now has a spacious home, that is full of light.

Shabbatones

At the conclusion of the dedication for Steinhardt Hall, Penn's co-ed Jewish a capella group, the Shabbatones performed, with tenor soloist, Joshua Strauss (above). The student group was founded during the 2001-2002 academic year. For more about the group, which is about to release their debut CD, see http://dolphin.upenn.edu/~vaad/shabbatones/.
