Live on the Web May 17
Family
members and friends who are unable to attend Penn's 248th
Commencement may view the ceremony live over the Internet.
Webcast coverage of the proceedings
from Franklin Field will begin at 9 a.m. EST on Monday,
May 17. The links to the webcast will become activated
by approximately 8:45 a.m. We recommend that you establish
your connection early.
To view the live Internet webcast, your
computer must have RealPlayer (version 8 or higher). RealPlayer
is available free to Penn students, faculty and staff via
the PennConnect CD or the supported products page, or to
all others direct from www.real.com.
To test
your RealPlayer configuration prior to the May 17 webcast,
try watching streaming video of
last year's Commencement ceremony. Visit www.upenn.edu/commencement/webcast.html to
watch the Commencement 2003 ceremony.
The Commencement
webcast will be encoded in "surestream" to support
a variety of Internet connection speeds. Those viewers
connecting at rates up to 256 Kbps
will enjoy a more favorable video experience.
If you miss the live webcast, or are unable
to connect, the broadcast will be available for archived
viewing on demand at this website beginning Wednesday,
May 19.
On-Campus Penn Video Network Broadcast
The Commencement Ceremony will also be
broadcast live across campus on the Penn Video Network
(PVN) special events channel (ch. 24), beginning 9 a.m.
Monday, May 17. PVN cable television services are available
in all University College Houses and residence halls, in
GreekNet-wired fraternity and sorority houses, and in more
than 50 administrative and academic buildings around campus.
