Comptroller: John Horn
John F. Horn has been appointed comptroller of the University, effective June 1. The Board of Trustees is expected to ratify his appointment at its June 17 meeting.Mr. Horn is a certified public accountant who has been the associate comptroller at Penn since 2001.

School of Social Policy & Practice Associate Dean: Ram Cnaan
Dr. Richard Gelles, Dean of the School of Social Policy & Practice, announced the appointment of Dr. Ram A. Cnaan as the Associate Dean for Research/Director of the Doctoral Program in Social Welfare.

D. Kettl

Fels Center Director: Donald Kettl
Dr. Donald Kettl, Stanley I. Sheerr Endowed Term Professor in the Social Sciences, and professor of political science, has been named director of the Fels Institute of Government beginning July 1, SAS Dean Rebecca Bushnell announced.

L. Sipe

GSE Teaching Award
The 2005 recipient of the Graduate School of Education’s Excellence in Teaching Award, presented by the GSE Student Affairs Committee, is Dr. Larry Sipe, associate professor of language in education division. The award was presented at the school commencement ceremony on May 15.

P. Davies SEAS Teaching Awards
The 2005 SEAS Teaching Awards were presented late last month at the Annual Awards Recognition Dinner at the Inn at Penn. Dr. Peter K. Davies, chair and professor of materials science and engineering, was awarded the School’s highest teaching honor, the S. Reid Warren, Jr. Award.
