Vice President of Facilities & Real Estate: Anne Papageorge

Anne Papageorge

Anne Papageorge, a licensed landscape architect, has been named vice president for the Division of Facilities and Real Estate Services, effective October 16. Her appointment concludes a six-month national search.

Ms. Papageorge will be responsible for managing the operations and maintenance of the University’s buildings and grounds, as well as the planning and project management of new construction and renovations of existing properties.

“Anne is a proven leader who possesses the energy and passion for the complexity of the facilities and real estate issues an urban university such as Penn will face,” EVP Craig Carnaroli said.  “She has a demonstrated track record in managing a large complex organization.”

Ms. Papageorge has been senior vice president and memorial design director for the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. (LMDC) since 2005, managing the planning, design and construction of the nearly $1 billion project encompassing the World Trade Center Memorial, Memorial Museum and cultural facilities.

Prior to joining the LMDC in 2004 as the memorial’s design director, she worked in the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) from 1996-2004, where she served as first assistant commissioner, then, first deputy commissioner of DDC and acting commissioner, managing a staff of nearly 1,200 and overseeing 750 projects valued at $4.4 billion.

Ms. Papageorge earned a B.L.A. in 1983 from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry School of Landscape Architecture (SUNY CESF SLA), and an M.B.A. in 2001 from the City University of New York Baruch College Zicklin School of Business. She serves on the SUNY CESF SLA Faculty of Landscape Architecture Advisory Council and has served as its president.
