Penn MuseumPenn Museum begins its celebration of all things Egyptian at the free opening of its new exhibition, Amarna, Ancient Egypt’s Place in the Sun on Sunday, November 12, noon to 5 p.m. The family-friendly day features Middle Eastern music, dance performances and a belly dance workshop, plus games, children’s crafts, films, and curator talks. The Amarna exhibit will feature more than 100 ancient artifacts, some never before on display—including statuary of gods, goddesses and royalty, monumental reliefs, golden jewelry as well as personal items from the royal family, and artists’ materials from the royal workshops of Amarna.

Penn Presents welcomes virtuoso violinist Simon Shaheen (above, left) to the Zellerbach Theatre on November 3, 8 p.m. The styles of this virtuoso violinist range from traditional Arabic to western jazz; $19-$38. The Big Arts Show
The Big Art Show comes to The Rotunda on November 4, 7 p.m.-1 a.m. The all-inclusive multi-media event will feature over 70 local and traveling artists and musicians.  $5 suggested donation (Arts at Penn).
