Penns Way

Dear Colleagues:

As you know, last year was historic in that it was the first year that the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Health System merged workplace charitable giving campaigns. Not surprisingly, last year’s campaign was an unparalleled success. We can all be proud that we reached unprecedented participation levels and that we raised a record $1,124,841 for local charitable organizations!

Through the generosity of the faculty and staff of both the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, we will be able to support the important work of the many charitable organizations in our region and the vulnerable populations these agencies serve. Additionally, because of your efforts, Penn was recognized by the United Way as a Champion for Impact for our exceptional dedication and support of our region. Thank you!

This year, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Health System will once again work together for the Penn’s Way 2008 campaign, Stronger Together. This powerful union will provide an immediate impact towards making a broader difference in our region. The strength of our combined generosities will catapult us towards reaching our goal of raising $1,200,000 for the communities in which we live!

The Penn’s Way fiscal year 2008 campaign has partnered with three organizations, each of which utilizes their expertise to approach the challenges facing our community today. They are:

• The Center for Responsible Funding
• Friends of Penn Medicine
• United Way

Please review the Penn’s Way materials to learn more about the campaign, which will run from October 1 to November 16. Use the convenient Penn’s Way website at www.upenn.edu/pennsway/ to enter your pledge and view the raffle prizes for each week. Pledging online is secure, convenient and time-saving. You can also watch for updates on the campaign, raffle winners and more in Almanac and on the Penn’s Way campaign web site.

Join us by lending a hand to those in need! Please help make the unified Penn’s Way 2008 campaign even Stronger Together by pledging your support today. With your generosity and our combined commitment to making a difference in our region, we will build stronger neighborhoods, improve the quality of life for communities and provide healthier lives for all!

Please accept our sincere appreciation for your continued generosity!
