PPSA Meeting: March 11
The next open PPSA Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11, noon-1:30 p.m. at the Sweeten Alumni Center, 3533 Locust Walk.
Nominations: PPSA 2008-2009 Executive Board
The PPSA is a voluntary organization comprised of professional (monthly-exempt) staff members whose positions enhance, facilitate, and serve the teaching, research and service missions of the University of Pennsylvania. The mission of the PPSA is to support and focus staff engagement and collaboration within the University of Pennsylvania community and to act as a productive resource for all of its members.
1. Provides a forum through which staff can engage in dialogue about issues facing the University and higher education;
2. Participates and collaborates in University governance through University Council and other committees and task forces;
3. Serves as an informational network to promote seminars and programs that enrich the quality of experience and work life for professional staff;
4. Provides a supportive network to assist the University in achieving its goals and objectives.

The following positions on the PPSA Executive Board will be available for the coming year:
Chair-Elect: The Chairperson is the principal executive officer, who calls meetings, prepares agendas, presides over meetings, and provides leadership and representation at the University Council and other meetings. After one year, the Chair-Elect automatically succeeds to the Office of Chairperson.
Members at Large: Four positions are available, each is for a two-year term. There will also be a one-year board position available. This will fill a current board vacancy created by a mid-year vacancy. The Members at Large participate in Executive Board meetings, can take on special projects, and can serve on other University Committees. University monthly-paid professional employees are welcome to self-nominate or submit names for consideration to PPSA at email@example.com no later than Monday, April 7, 2008. Please include the home department and campus extension of the nominee. A supporting statement should be included. The nominating committee will review the names and contact the nominees. A list of candidates will be prepared and distributed to the PPSA membership prior to the election.
The 2008-2009 election for officers will occur during the annual meeting which will take place on a date to be announced, typically in late spring.
