Michele Goldfarb has been appointed associate ombudsman at the University of Pennsylvania effective July 1, 2008.

Ms. Goldfarb is currently serving as director of the Penn Women’s Center, a role she assumed in 2007. From 2006-07,  she taught in the Penn Law School, primarily in the Civil Practice Clinic, and assisted in the Mediation Clinic, where she has been teaching as an adjunct professor since 1996 (Almanac September 5, 2006). Ms. Goldfarb was the director of Penn’s Office of Student Conduct (OSC), a position she held for 11 years.

“Penn is fortunate to have someone with Ms. Goldfarb’s expertise in mediation and conflict resolution and deep knowledge of the University as its new associate ombudsman. A highly regarded teacher and university citizen, she brings a wealth of experience in alternative dispute resolution to her new role and we are delighted to have been able to recruit her into this new role,” said Joann Mitchell, vice president for institutional affairs.

Ms. Goldfarb received her BA in history at Oberlin College in 1972 and her JD at American University’s Washington College of Law in 1975.
