A spirited procession along Locust Walk (top left) on Monday, May 18, included the Penn Band, the Class of 2009, as well as the Alumni and Academic Processions which arrived at Franklin Field for the 253rd Commencement.
Interim Provost Vincent Price, behind podium, (middle) watches as Leslie Laird Kruhly, University Secretary and James S. Riepe, chair of the Board of Trustees, with University mace in hand, officially proclaimed the opening of the ceremony.
David Doyle, C’09, then sang the National Anthem; he also led the singing of The Red and Blue, after the dismissal by Chaplain Charles Howard.
