Drake

The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing announced the appointment of Daniel Drake as Executive Director/CEO of LIFE, beginning November 30, 2009. Living Independently for Elders (LIFE) is an innovative program run by the School of Nursing that allows seniors faced with probable nursing home placement the option to remain in the community in their own homes. This is made possible by providing daily medical care and supportive services at the LIFE center in West Philadelphia. Mr. Drake most recently served as a nursing home administrator for a 180-bed skilled nursing facility as part of Genesis HealthCare. Mr. Drake is a registered nurse with more than 20 years of clinical and administrative experience in healthcare. He has an associate degree in nursing science, a bachelor’s in business administration, and a master’s of health services administration from West Chester University, where he is an adjunct professor of healthcare law, ethics, organizational behavior, and management. His background in business, assimilation of the PACE model (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), and devotion to quality care will ensure continued success of the LIFE program at Penn.
