On Monday, April 19, WXPN will host, “Life Is What You Make It: A Concert and Conversation with Peter Buffett.” Peter Buffett, the son of billionaire investor Warren Buffett, says that the only real inheritance handed down from his parents was a philosophy to forge your own path in life. It is a creed that has allowed him to follow his own passions, establish his own identity, and reap his own successes. The Emmy Award-winning musician has an acclaimed career that spans more than 28 years as a professional songwriter, producer, artist, performer, recording engineer, independent label owner, author and philanthropist. He has released over 15 albums and has scored numerous film and television projects.

His “Concert & Conversation” tour, first launched in the fall of 2008, combines live performance with candid personal discussion and video clips of his film, TV, and philanthropic work. This event speaks to the challenges of finding a path towards a well-lived life, and favors following passions over conventions. The written companion to the live “Concert & Conversation” program is his book, Life Is What You Make It (Harmony Books, 2010).

The event will take place next Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) at World Cafe Live, to benefit their non-profit partner, LiveConnections.org. Tickets are $25 ($10/students) and all proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the organization, which creates free music education programs for Philadelphia children.

LiveConnections.org, launched in 2008 by a team of artists, educators and entrepreneurs, is dedicated to music, education and support for artists by creating innovative programs for kids, hosting concerts for the community and helping artists build their careers and their connection to the region.
