PDF
April 13, 2010, Volume 56, No. 29

This evening, President Amy Gutmann will moderate this year’s David and Lyn Silfen Forum, The Polarized Polis: Public Debate in the United States in the Agora of the Annenberg Public Policy Center from 5-6:30 p.m.

Penn Professors Kathleen Hall Jamieson, John DiIulio, and John Jackson, Jr. will be joined by chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities and former Congressman Jim Leach, and NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell in a robust exchange about the apparent deficit in mutual respect and surplus in political polarization of American public debate and political culture in our times.

David Silfen, senior director of The Goldman Sachs Group, has been a Penn trustee since 1998 and is completing his term as chair of the Trustee Development Committee and serves on several other committees for the University Trustees. He is also an SAS overseer. He and his wife, Lyn, are the parents of Penn alumni Jane, C’07 and Adam Silfen, C’98, WG’03. Longtime supporters of undergraduate education, they previously funded two PIK Professorships, the Silfen Student Study Center, a term professorship and the David and Lyn Silfen Fund in the SAS, to support the Pilot Curriculum. RSVP to: opforum@exchange.upenn.edu.
