Procedural Guidelines for Principal Investigators (“PIs”) Leaving the University of Pennsylvania:
Handling Awards, Research Materials, Equipment and/or Other Research-Related Issues
Procedural guidelines were developed by a working group convened by the Senior Vice Provost for Research to address numerous requirements that arise related to grants and other sponsored agreements (“grants”) when an investigator terminates employment at the University of Pennsylvania. These guidelines are intended to supplement existing University policies and procedures regarding the various components of the grant transfer and relinquishment process and outline roles and responsibilities for investigators, business administrators, department chairs, and other supervisory personnel, as well as the offices reporting to the Office of the Vice Provost for Research.
