Redman

Vice Provost for Education Andrew Binns recently announced the appointment of Martin Redman as executive director of College Houses and Academic Services (CHAS), effective January 10, 2011.

Mr. Redman has most recently served as dean of residential life at Dartmouth College and director of residential life at Carleton College, among numerous other schools in his 35-year career.

In this newly created position, he will oversee Penn’s 11 college houses, working closely with CHAS’s faculty director, staff, and house deans, as well as with students and faculty across the university.

“We are extremely fortunate to attract an Executive Director with Marty Redman’s skills, experience and wisdom,” said Vice Provost Binns. “He is the ideal person to help us build on the accomplishments of CHAS and chart the future of college houses at Penn.

We are most grateful for the leadership of Prof. Mark Liberman, who will continue his outstanding service as Faculty Director, and Dr. Leslie Delauter, who will assume a vital new role as Director of Academic Programs in all the college houses.”

Mr. Redman earned an MEd in higher education and student affairs from the University of Pittsburgh and a BA in American history from Dickinson College.
