Glen Campbell’s Goodbye Tour comes to Penn for an 8 p.m. performance at Irvine Auditorium on Thursday, September 15. This is the only east coast venue for his tour, then he heads westward and on to the UK. Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005, he recently released his final studio album of his legendary career, Ghost on the Canvas. Over the course of his 50-year career in show business, the singer, guitarist, television host (from 1969-72 he hosted The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour) and occasional actor, played along John Wayne in the original film, True Grit for which he recorded an Oscar-nominated song. Mr. Campbell won eight Grammy Awards for both pop and country music. He created instant classics like “Wichita Lineman,” “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Gentle on My Mind,” “Galveston,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” and “Southern Nights” and sold over 45 million albums.
