iPod Tours of Penn Museum Galleries

December 20, 2011, Volume 58, No. 16

The “Highlights of the Galleries” iPod Touch Tour, in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language (see below) is now available.

The iPod tour guides visitors through the Museum’s 16 long-term galleries highlighting 29 objects of special interest selected by Museum curators. Complete with an introduction by the Penn Museum’s Williams Director Richard Hodges, the audio tour offers commentary on some of the Museum’s most remarkable objects, from the third largest sphinx outside of Egypt to the iconic, bull-headed lyre from Ur.

This tour is available for free download on iTunes. Or you can watch the Sign Language Tour on the Museum’s  YouTube Channel!

The Penn Museum “Highlights of the Galleries” audio tour was made possible by the Women’s Committee of the Penn Museum and a special gift from longtime Women’s Committee member and Museum supporter Doris Samitz.

American Sign Language Tour

The Highlights of the Galleries Tour is also available in American Sign Language (ASL). Watch actor and comedian CJ Jones, from SignWorld TV, bring the galleries to life as he interprets 16 objects and introduces eight galleries in the ASL tour.

The American Sign Language video tour is dedicated to the memory of Jason Stefaniuk, the Museum’s web developer who died two years ago (Almanac October 20, 2009).
