Penn Public Safety Advisory

PDF
February 14, 2012, Volume 58, No. 22

The Division of Public Safety has been notified by Drexel University and American Campus Communities of the beginnings of a major project that will transform Chestnut Street between 32nd and 33rd Streets into a new gateway for Drexel and University City. The new complex will feature student housing and retail space. Construction has already begun with a targeted completion date of September 2013.

With this construction there will be changes in traffic and pedestrian patterns that you should be aware of:
A new traffic signal and mid-block crosswalk opened in the 3200 block of Chestnut Street. The sidewalk on the south side of Chestnut Street is closed to all pedestrian traffic from 32nd to 33rd Streets.

The SEPTA bus stop at 32nd and Chestnut Streets has been moved closer to 31st Street on Chestnut. SEPTA will post signs indicating the stop's new location.
