FreemanDr. Damon Freeman is the recipient of the 2012 Excellence in Teaching Award, Standing Faculty, School of Social Policy & Practice for the third straight year. Dr. Freeman is an assistant professor at SP2. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Morgan State University in Baltimore, a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law, and a PhD in African-American history from Indiana University. He has taught courses on American Racism and Social Work Practice, Understanding Social Change, the Courts and Social Policy, and Critical Race Theory. Dr. Freeman believes in taking a deep learning approach to topics, particularly race that moves students beyond superficial learning and critically examines what race means in the 21st century United States.

 

 

 

 

 

 

BodenheimerDr. Danna Bodenheimer is the recipient of the 2012 Excellence in Teaching Award, Part-time Faculty, School of Social Policy & Practice. She has served as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania since 2009 and was a member of the first cohort of graduates from Penn’s DSW program. Dr. Bodenheimer received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Smith College and a post-baccalaureate degree from Columbia University. Dr. Bodenheimer splits her time between teaching at Penn, a private practice in Center City, Philadelphia and writing. She has published on topics related to love in psychotherapy, eating disorders and the history of relational work. Dr. Bodenheimer is currently working on a book about getting started in the field of clinical social work through White Hat Press.
