Fifteen Penn professors, including seven from the Perelman School of Medicine, are now signed up to offer free classes through Coursera, www.coursera.org

Penn joined forces with Coursera in the spring, (Almanac April 24, 2012) with a dozen professors initially slated to be involved and since then participation has increased as has the enrollment for courses with some attracting 30,000 to 50,000 per course.

Penn Law professor Edward B. Rock was recently named director of open course initiatives (Almanac September 4, 2012) to oversee the implementation of Penn’s partnership with Coursera.
