Free Eye Exams for Service Dogs
During the week of May 20-24, the School of Veterinary Medicine’s Ryan Hospital will participate in the sixth annual National Service Dog Eye Exam sponsored by American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and Merial. More than 250 board certified veterinary ophthalmologists from the US, Canada and Puerto Rico will be donating their time and resources to provide free, sight-saving eye exams to thousands of eligible service animals. To qualify, animals must be “active working animals” that were certified by a formal training program or organization or are currently enrolled in a formal training program. Dogs must be registered by April 30 at www.ACVOeyeexam.org prior to scheduling an appointment.
Free Skin Cancer Screening
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Penn Dermatology and Penn’s Abramson Cancer Center are sponsoring free skin cancer screenings on Saturday, May 18, 8 a.m.-noon, at the Ruth and Raymond Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, 3400 Civic Center Blvd., 1st fl., ste. 1-330S.
