One of the "Nature Light Images" by Daniel Chung at the Burrison Gallery. |
Nature Light Images by Daniel Chung is on exhibit at the BurrisonGallery through May 20.
His philosophy on nature photography is relatively simple. It is to capture the beauty of nature in its wild state, with this in mind he does not photograph captive wildlife, with the exception of one photograph in his collection, a close-up of a jaguar he took over 20 years ago. This also extends to the use of the digital darkroom. For him, he believes the tools in the digital darkroom are to recreate and restore what the limitations of digital capture can’t record in the moment of time that is being preserved. Above all, he endeavors to create art with images of nature that evoke emotion and thought.
In the words of Daniel Chung: “The beauty of the natural world is second to none. Very few things in our world can evoke so many different emotions and thoughts as images of the Creator’s handiwork. At Nature Light Images, the hope is to capture a moment in time that evokes thought, emotion and appreciation for the world around us. In a sense, to take a deep breath from our day to day madness and simply see and appreciate the beauty that is illuminated in Nature Light.”
