Works on Paper–ink drawings by Nazanin Moghbeli are on display until May 13 with a reception scheduled on Friday, April 24 from 5-7 p.m. in the Burrison Gallery at the Inn at Penn.
Ms. Moghbeli creates abstract ink drawings that reference the Iranian language (left). She takes one Farsi letter at a time and practices it over and over, trying to mimic its exact contour. That letter is then released from its exactness and becomes truly a “character,” sometimes looking bold, human-like, sometimes dominating, other times retreating. She is a Philadelphia-based artist who creates works on paper using ink and graphite.
