On February 7-November 1, Beneath the Surface: Life, Death and Gold in Ancient Panama will be on display at the Penn Museum. It will include spectacular finds at the Pre-Columbian cemetery of Sitio Conte in central Panama shed light on a mysterious and complex society that thrived there more than 1,000 years ago. Artists in the Garden: PAFA at Morris Arboretum

On March 1-July 27, Artists in the Garden: PAFA at Morris Arboretum will be on display at the Morris Arboretum. The exhibit will display artwork by students, alumni and faculty of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. See Exhibits.

The Luber Collection of Art Books

March 16-June 12, Representing Modern Japan: The Luber Collection of Art Books; a multi-lingual selection of over 1,000 volumes on Japanese art, art history and culture from the pre-modern period to the 1990s-an emphasis on 20th-century Japanese printing and other art forms will be on display in the Goldstein Family Gallery, Kislak Center for Special Collections, Van Pelt-Dietrich Library. Year of Health–Corn: From Ancient Crop to Soda Pop is on display now through May 13, 2016 at the Penn Museum. It follows corn as an important crop in the Americas to its current presence in food and drink around the world while exploring how corn has impacted human health for better or worse. Institute of Contemporary Art 

DO/TELL, the exhibit by Erin Bernard, Heather Hart, Rachelle Mozman and Akosua Adoma Owusu is on display at ICA from April 22-August 16. It concerns home and family constructed through the act of story-telling. See Exhibits.

Barbara Kasten: Stages is the first major survey of the work of the artist. Widely recognized for her photographs, since the 1970s Kasten has developed her expansive practice through the lens of many different disciplines, (above right) a piece by Barbara Kasten, Construct 32, Cibachrome, 40 x 30 inches. At Native American Voices: The People—Here and Now, a new long-term interactive exhibition at the Penn Museum, visitors will learn about contemporary issues in Native America. Set against the backdrop of more than 200 objects from the Museum’s expansive collections from the United States and Canada, the exhibition challenges stereotypes and tells powerful stories of Native American successes in achieving independence as sovereign, self-governing Nations. At multimedia stations, visitors will experience audio and video clips of contemporary Native Americans speaking of the many ways in which they maintain their religious, political, linguistic and artistic independence. This permanent exhibit at Van Pelt-Diectrich Library is devoted to the display of John James Audubon's Birds of America (1827-38). Penn's double elephant folio set of the Birds was a gift by Edwin H.
