Scott L. Diamond
Professor and Director

Scott Diamond is trained as a chemical engineer and specializes in cardiovascular therapeutic technologies. He is the author of more than 80 publications and patents in the fields of gene therapy, drug delivery, thrombolytics, thrombosis, and endothelial mechanobiology. With publications in Science, Nature Biotechnology, Circulation, Blood, Journal of Cell Biology, Gene Therapy and Biophysical Journal, his work has received over 1,000 scientific citations. He is an Established Investigator of the American Heart Association and recipient of the NSF National Young Investigator Award and an NIH FIRST Award. In 1999, he received the Allan P. Colburn Award from the American Institute for Chemical Engineers, its highest honor for research excellence by a member under the age of 36. Dr. Diamond has licensed a number of his patents to business start-ups and biotechnology concerns. He also serves on the faculty of the Departments of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Bioengineering, and Pharmacology, as well as in the Wharton School. He is also the director of the Penn Center for Molecular Discovery, one of nine members of the NIH Molecualr Libraries Screening Center Network (MLSCN).
