1 Credit Unit = $4,583 ($4,259Tuition + $251 General Fee + $73 Technology Fee)

2 Credit Units = $9,166 ($4,259Tuition x 2 + $502 General Fee + $146 Technology Fee)

3 Credit Units = $14,073 ($4,259Tuition x 3 + $1,004 General Fee + $292 Technology Fee)

4 Credit Units = $18,332 ($4,259Tuition x 4 + $1,004 General Fee + $292 Technology Fee)

5 Credit Units = $22,591 ($4,259Tuition x 5 + $1,004 General Fee + $292 Technology Fee)

6 Credit Units = $26,850 ($4,259Tuition x 6 + $1,004 General Fee + $292 Technology Fee)

NOTE: Effective Fall 2005, the tuition rate for master degree candidates will be charged per the number of courses registered. The maximum number of courses that you will be allowed to register per semester will be four. Additional courses may be requested by petition for action submitted to the Biotechnology Department for approval, overall GPA will be considered.

General Fee - The general fee is a partial contribution towards the support of the Placement Service, Graduate Student Activites, Recreational Activities, the physical development of the University, and other services not directly associated with specific courses. The maximum that will be charged each semester is $1,004

Technology Fee - The Technology Fee helps to underwrite the various computer resources for the School of Engineering including computer labs, provided software, web-based email, and other related costs. The maximum that will be charged each semester is $292.

The Master of Biotechnology Program requires that students complete eleven (11) approved credit units before being awarded the degree. Generally, each individual course is counted as one credit unit, although some courses may only count for half a credit unit. Students are charged on a semester basis by the University of Pennsylvania and will be billed for each registered credit unit. See the Graduate Student Handbook for more information.
