July 12 - Progressive Change Funds in Philadelphia’s Neighborhoods, part of the Foundation Open House Series, Temple University's Gladfelter Hall, Room 310, 12-2 PM.  Executive directors and program officers from the AIDS Fund, Bread and Roses Community Fund, and Women’s Way will be in attendance.  To register, call or email Hillary Aisenstein.

June 20 - Beginners Caucus of Community Service Directors, Philadelphia University.  This meeting is intended for to higher ed staff who work primarily with student volunteer programs and/or service-learning to come together to discuss common issues.  The Beginners Caucus is for individuals who come from institutions that are really just starting to explore campus-community engagement.  We will discuss things from motivating students to working with faculty and administration.  If you would like to attend this, please contact Hillary

May 24 - City Year Information Session, City Year Office, American Red Cross Building, 23rd and Chestnut Streets, 2nd floor, 6 PM. City Year, a part of the AmeriCorps program, is a perfect opportunity for any 17-24 year old looking to take a year off from school, take a year off before they go on to college, or gain valuable work and service experience while deciding what they will do with themselves.  For more information visit their website or contact Kristin Walega at 215-988-2118 x. 224. 

May 18 - Quarterly PHENND Meeting, Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Alumni Hall, 1020 Locust Street, Room 145, 9 AM - 12PM.  This is one of four times that the entire PHENND region can get together to discuss any pertinent issues.  Come ready to exchange information and ideas about what PHENND can do for you and what you can do for each other.  This meeting is open to everyone - students, community organizations, teachers, staff, faculty, etc.  Come one! Come all! 

Apr. 5 - Evaluation from the Community Perspective, 3:00-5:00 PM, MCP-Hahnemann University, 2nd floor, Bellet Building, 1505 Race Street.  Come explore the issues around program evaluation, particularly in reference to community impacts and the role of community partners in the evaluation process.  Please come with your university or community partner if possible.  The workshop will be facilitated by Stephen Kauffman of Widener University.  Please RSVP to Whitney Hartmann at 215-762-8520.  Click here to see the results of the workshop.

Apr. 4 - "Doing It...in the Real World/Community Action, Social Change, and the University." 1:00-3:00 PM, Temple University, Room 301/303 Student Activities Center, 13th Street and Montgomery Ave.  Student-led panels will each discuss particular aspects of the service-learning experience or particular types of service.   To RSVP, email Kimberly Dukes at kdukes@astro.temple.edu.  She is also still looking for panels of 2-4 students to talk about a particular aspect or experience of service-learning, so if you're interested in being a panelist, contact her.

Feb. 29 - Question and Answer Session for PHENND Subgrants.  2:00-4:00 PM, University of Pennsylvania College of General Studies Conference Room, 3440 Market Street, 1st floor.

Feb 24 - "The Nuts and Bolts of Service-Learning."  12:00-1:30 PM, Philadelphia University, Student Center Lounge.  A brown bag lunch discussion meant especially for faculty new to service-learning.  Come talk about logistical issues like recruiting students, creating hourly requirements, adding service-oriented literature to your syllabi, improving your course, etc.  For more information, contact Hillary Aisenstein, hillarya@pobox.upenn.edu.
