June 20 - Beginners Caucus of Community
Service Directors, Philadelphia University. This meeting is intended
for to higher ed staff who work primarily with student volunteer programs
and/or service-learning to come together to discuss common issues.
The Beginners Caucus is for individuals who come from institutions that
are really just starting to explore campus-community engagement.
We will discuss things from motivating students to working with faculty

Service Directors, Swarthmore College. This meeting is intended

there is a long tradition of community engagement and a great variety of

May 24 - City Year Information Session,
City Year Office, American Red Cross Building, 23rd and Chestnut Streets,
2nd floor, 6 PM. City Year, a part of the AmeriCorps
program, is a perfect opportunity for any 17-24 year old looking to take
a year off from school, take a year off before they go on to college, or
gain valuable work and service experience while deciding what they will

May 18 - Quarterly PHENND Meeting,
Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Alumni Hall, 1020 Locust Street,
Room 145, 9 AM - 12PM. This is one of four times that the entire
PHENND region can get together to discuss any pertinent issues. Come
ready to exchange information and ideas about what PHENND can do for you
and what you can do for each other. This meeting is open to everyone
- students, community organizations, teachers, staff, faculty, etc.

Apr. 5 - Evaluation from the Community
Perspective, 3:00-5:00 PM, MCP-Hahnemann University, 2nd floor, Bellet
Building, 1505 Race Street. Come explore the issues around program
evaluation, particularly in reference to community impacts and the role
of community partners in the evaluation process. Please come with
your university or community partner if possible. The workshop will
be facilitated by Stephen Kauffman of Widener University. Please

brown bag lunch discussion meant especially for faculty new to service-learning.

requirements, adding service-oriented literature to your syllabi, improving
