A step forward

The new periodontal clinic at Penn's School of Dental Medicine features state-of-the-art dental care in a patient-friendly environment. It will also enhance the Penn Dental student experience for years to come.

At 4,600 square feet, the D. Walter Cohen and Morton Amsterdam Periodontal Clinic includes 18 operatories, three surgical suites, a dedicated student laboratory and the latest in digital radiography technology. A true teaching-learning facility, the clinic also features a surgical suite outfitted with cameras that will transmit cases live to lecture spaces within the school. Patients may now hear background music in recovery rooms.

"This clinic is a great environment for learning, teaching, and working," says Joseph Fiorellini, chair of the Department of Periodontics. "There is really no other place like it in the country."
