Going Green: Making your computing experience a sustainable one

While the CRC does not offer any specific services related to recycling of personal computing hardware and other IT related products, the the Green IT web site contains a wealth of information and advice about how to reduce the impact your computing habits can have on the environment.

Many local services, such as Elemental, are available to students, faculty, and staff who wish to recycle their personal computers. However, many hardware manufactures use recycled equipment for materials that can be re purposed in newer products. To encourage recycling of equipment, some vendors offer credits to be used when purchasing new equipment in exchange for recycled hardware. With this in mind, students are encouraged to work directly with their specific hardware vendors to determine what recycling services are available.

The Computers and Peripherals section of the Green IT web site provides links to a variety of recycling services along with links to many of the companies whose products are in wide use at Penn.
