How can I add a report filter in InfoView?

If you would like to see all of the filters applied to a report plus the query filters, you can do so in InfoView by using the nifty 'Document Structure and Filters' tab. See the FAQ - How can I see and work with all of the filters applied on a report at once, including the query filters? for more information.

If you need to add one or two simple filters with ONE VALUE EACH to result objects in a report, do this:

    1. Use the ‘Report Filter Toolbar’ (see below graphic, RED highlighting)
      • Toggle this toolbar on by selecting View > Toolbars > Report Filter  OR
      • Click on the ‘Show/Hide Report Filter Toolbar’ in the upper right (When you mouse over the icons, a tooltip will identify this ‘Show/Hide' icon.)
    2. Note the bar that appears in the uppermost portion of the ‘Report Panel’, including the words Click icon to add simple report filters.
    3. You can add one or many Result Objects one-at-a-time via this toolbar.
    4. You can add ONLY ONE selection/value for each Result Object. YOU CANNOT ADD MULTIPLE VALUES USING THIS OPTION. (That’s why it’s called “simple report filters”!)
    5. You cannot use OR as operator with these filters. AND is the default operator.

If you need to add one or more filters with multiple values, do one of these two options (depending on personal taste!):

Option 1-using the 'Filter' button in the Reporting Toolbar (see above graphic, PURPLE highlighting)

      1. Click on element or block to be filtered, click on ‘Filter’ button (yellow funnel) in ‘Reporting Toolbar
      2. Depending on what you originally clicked on, you will see a dialog box titled
        1. Report Filter Editor
        2. Block Filter Editor
        3. Filter
        4. If you double click on an individual Result Object in the ‘Report Filter Editor’ or the ‘Block Filter Editor’, the ‘Filter’ dialog box will appear.
      3. Use these dialog boxes/editors to create and/or edit your filters
      4. You can now use both AND and OR operators with these filters!

Option 2-Right clicking

      1. Right-click on the report, a block, or an individual element
      2. The right-click menu has a Filter > Add Filter option to provide access to the ‘Report Filter Editor,’ ‘Block Filter Editor,’ and ‘Filter’ dialog boxes
      3. Use these dialog boxes/editors to create and/or edit your filters
      4. You can now use both AND and OR operators with these filters

If you need to add one or several complex filters or sub-queries, see “How To Create Complex Query Filters by nesting or indenting them together, and using AND and OR in Webi
