Research Inventory Data Collection

The Research Inventory data collection is the subset of the University Data Warehouse that contains sponsored project subrecipient agreement data, which has been exported to the Data Warehouse from the Research Inventory system (RIS). Subrecipient agreements are often referred to as subawards, but they also include subcontracts and purchased services agreements.

Currently, the Research Inventory data collection stores information on subaward requests, including data on prime awards and Penn contact information, subaward details and subrecipient contact information, and the review and activity logs for the requests. Information is also available for Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) and Other Non-Monetary Agreements (NMAs).

Some data is available only to authorized staff members of the Office of Research Services:

  • executive compensation data (used for Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 (FFATA) reporting)
  • data from the Risk Assessment Questionnaire
  • Community data--master data for subcontractors (institutions that receive funding or payments from Penn per subrecipient agreements) and for federal programs that are identified by CFDA numbers

The data is refreshed nightly. No data training is required to obtain access to the data. To ask how to request access to the data, send email to da-staff@isc.upenn.edu.
