in the online Payroll system and the Data Warehouse were converted to this
new system over April 8 - 9, 1998. Faculty classes were unaffected by this
conversion. Some classes were resued, however (and only the attributes now

| JOB_GRADE
Indexed - yes
Format - char (3)
May be null? yes
|
The 3-character code indicating the pay grade for the Job_Class.

Redesign Project of April 1998 new grades were established to simplify salary
administration. (For Job_Classes that are reused, only the Job_Grade now
assigned to the Job_Class is available.) University exempt (monthly-paid;
not eligible for overtime time) and non-exempt (weekly-paid; eligible for
overtime pay) staff positions are classified within a 12-grade structure,
numbered from 21 to 32 (these are stored in 3-digits, as 021-032 in the
Data Warehouse). A separate Information Technology (IT) salary broadband
structure, represented by the letters A - H, was also developed, and applies
to IT positions at the University.
Examples: FAC (Faculty), 27 (non-exempt grade 27), D (IT band D)
Values:

- Technical/paraprofessional
- Skilled crafts
- Service
As a result of the University's Classification Redesign Project, a new job
classification system for staff positions was developed in 1998. Job classes

new system over April 8 - 9, 1998. Faculty classes were unaffected by this
conversion. Some classes were resued, however (and only the attributes now

|
JOB_TITLE
Indexed - no
Format - char (25)
May be null? yes |
The title currently associated with the Job_Class. The title
associated with a given Job_Class may vary over time, as the Data Warehouse
does not store historical data on Job_Classes. A report listing titles of
past jobs for an employee may therefore not exactly reflect the title associated
with the Job_Class at the time the person held the job. As a result of the
University's Classification Redesign Project, a new job classification system
for staff positions was developed in 1998. Job classes in the online Payroll
system and the Data Warehouse were converted to this new system over April
8 - 9, 1998. Faculty classes were unaffected by this conversion. Some classes
were resued, however (and only the attributes now used for those classes
are available).
Examples: ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR C-E (226010); CLERK, LIMITED SERVICE (515037)

Refer to the DWADMIN.JOB_CLASS table for values.

developed in 1998. Job classes in the online Payroll system and the Data
Warehouse were converted to this new system over April 8 - 9, 1998. Faculty
classes were unaffected by this conversion. Some classes were resued, however
(and only the attributes now used for those classes are available).

Warehouse were converted to this new system over April 8 - 9, 1998. Faculty
classes were unaffected by this conversion. Some classes were resued, however
(and only the attributes now used for those classes are available).

|
PERSONNEL_CLASS
Indexed - yes
Format - char (2)
May be null? yes |
The 2-character code that identifies the kind of position

classes were unaffected by this conversion. Some classes were resued, however
(and only the attributes now used for those classes are available).

listed):
EX: EMPLOYEE_JOB.Appt_Employee_Type = 6 [this class is not included in
the Data Warehouse]
SS: EMPLOYEE_JOB.Appt_Employee_Type = 2 AND (Job_Grade is between 021
and 032 or Job_Grade is A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) OR
EMPLOYEE_JOB.Appt_Employee_Type = 2 or 3 AND Job_Grade = LIM OR
Job_Class = 515550 or 515555 OR
EMPLOYEE_JOB.Appt_Employee_Type = 2 or 3 AND Job_Grade = PT OR
EMPLOYEE_JOB.Appt_Employee_Type = 2 and Job_Grade = INT
[OR, for pre-Classification Redesign job class codes:
EMPLOYEE_JOB.Appt_Employee_Type = 2 and Job_Grade = Gxx or space]
TS: Job_Grade = TEM OR Job_Class = 855150
NE: Job_Class = 8xxxxx OR Job_Class = 399055, 399057, or 140005
FA: Job_Class = 2xxxxx OR Job_Grade = FAC
AP: EMPLOYEE_JOB.Appt_Employee_Type = 1 AND Job_Grade NOT = FAC
US: Job_Grade = U
ST: EMPLOYEE_JOB.Appt_Employee_Type = 5
NC: any classes not covered by the criteria above
Values:
AP Administrative/Professional
EX Executive Pay (not included in the Data Warehouse)
FA Faculty
NC No category
NE Non-employees (courtesy appointments, etc.)
SS Support Staff
ST Student
TS Temporary Staff
US Unionized Staff

STANDING_FACULTY_RANK
Indexed - yes
Format - char (5)
May be null? yes |
For standing faculty jobs (all faculty members including Clinician-Educators),
the 4-character code that indicates the professorial rank for the Job_Class.

tenure probationary status. (This includes inviduals such as those of Job_Class
206047 (Lecturer C) who have been admitted to the standing faculty, but
lack either appropriate terminal degree or visa status. Conversion to standing
faculty is immediate upon presentation of documentation to the Provost staff.)
Employees who are not standing faculty will have null values for this column.
Examples: FULL (full professor), ASSO (associate professor)
Values:
FULL Full Job Class = 216000-216003, 226000
ASSO Associate Job Class = 216020, 226010
ASST Assistant Job Class = 216020, 226020
