The University distinguishes more than 50 affiliations, which have been consolidated into a few broad categories for the Online Directory.
Some people have more than one affilliation at the University. For example, a staff member may also be a student. Affiliation in the Directory is based on a person's primary affiliation to the University.
Example: If a full-time Penn student was also working as a part-time employee at Penn, their University Affiliation in the Online Directory would still fall exclusively under "Student".
Advanced tip: To limit a search, it's advisable to select an affiliation other than "All". You must fill in at least one field in addition to "Affiliation" to perform a search.
