What are secure settings for Eudora?

[ Basic Security | Enhanced Security ] for using

Basic Security users may use TLS to encrypt POP,IMAP, and SMTP authentication. These settings are the same for both Macintosh and PC clones. Users must use Eudora 5.2.1 or above for TLS. The configurations are set under the Special menu.

Return Address:
Responce to your email will be sent to this address

Mail Server (incoming):
Your mail server

Login Name:
The first part of your email address before the "@" sign

SMTP Server:
Add "smtp." in front of your mail server

Checking Mail

Mail Server:
Your mail server

Login Name:
The first part of your email address before hte "@" sign

Check for mail every [15] minutes:
Interval at which Eudora checks for new mail.

Don't check without a network connection:
Eudora does not try to check mail if you are offline.

Don't check when using battery:
Eudora does not try to check mail if you are running off a laptop battery.

Save Password:
Eudora will not ask you for a password every time if checked

Secure Sockets when Receiving:
"Alternate Port" will turn on TLS encryption

Incoming Mail

Server configuration: (POP)
POP protocol downloads all new email on your harddrive. Not recommended if you use webmail or multiple computers.

Server configuration: (IMAP)
IMAP keeps mail messeges on the server. Please move your messeges to a local folder periodically to avoid running out of account space.

Authentication Style: (IMAP)
Choose "Passwords".

Sending Mail

Domain to add to unqualified address:
Eudora will automatically add "upenn.edu" to simplified addresses such as "joe@sas"

SMTP Server:
This is your mail sending server.

Allow authentication:
Must be turned on for TLS.

Immediate send:
Messege is sent to recepient immediately when "send" is pressed

Send on check:
Any unsent mail will be sent when "check mail" is performed.

Secure Sockets when Sending
"Required STARTTLS" (win), "Required (TLS)" (mac) must be chosen for TLS encryption
