What is shell access and how do I use it?

Shell access refers to accessing ISC Networking Mail Servers using text based clients. You will access the unix console of our server directly, which allows greater flexibility in managing your account compared to using the web-based Account Services application.

Using Secure Shell (SSH) clients and Kerberized Telnet clients are two ways to do this securly. You may need to know basic unix commands to use shell access effectively.

Account Services can be used for most account management tasks, but some tasks require use of shell access. These include:
