Supported Products - Spring 2002 - Operating System Guidelines

We continue to select and support both Mac OS and Windows products in each category. Mac products must support Mac OS versions 8.6 through X version 10.1. Windows products must support Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT Workstation 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, and Windows XP Professional. Support for a single product that offers both a Mac and Windows version is preferable, but separate Mac and Windows products can be selected in cases where they are significantly better than the cross-platform applications available. Teams must also consider the existence of versions for other operating systems in use on campus, such as Linux/Unix, as a criteria when ranking candidate products. Support for other operating systems is not required, and teams should weigh this factor as appropriate within each product category. Finally, interoperability of supported products with Palm OS-based products is a consideration this year.
