Web Browser Evaluation - Spring 2002
Final Report: This years report is available here.
Both Netscape and Microsoft have released significantly revised versions
of their web browsers (Netscape 6.2.x and Internet Explorer 6.0x). With
a growing number of services being delivered via the web, structured testing
of Internet Explorer and Netscape against critical systems is necessary.
The team is asked to document issues related to use of specific browser/Java
versions to access campus systems and services, and to develop general
recommendations regarding the configuration and use of Communicator and
Internet Explorer. In addition, the team is asked to confirm continued
support for the recommended helper applications (Acrobat Reader, Flash,
Quicktime, RealPlayer, Shockwave, Windows Media Player) and to test both
browsers with the latest versions of the helper applications installed.
